Book recommendations was created by Michael Marks
Hi all,
My birthday is coming up (43 years young) and I fancied a book on the x1/9.
Any recommendations?
Would like, if possible, to read old road tests, look at the various parts of the car in detail, learn new facts etc. etc. Who knows, in a few years mine might even be worthy of inclusion in a book!
Sad I know but it would make a change from jumpers.

Hi Mike,
If you take a look at the Club shop here there's a small selection of books to choose from.
However, the one you probably 'need' is the Phil Ward book (I forget its title) but I'm guessing this is going to be an ebay buy if you can find it.
Hope you have a great birthday. Which model X1/9 do you have ?
Chris

thanks for the info.
I have the Phil Ward book, looking for more info like road tests etc. Anyone read the Gold Portfolio book - is it any good?
In answer to your question, I have a 1979 1500 currently in Gold (and a brown rust like colour!) but considering making it yellow. I like 1970's yellow cars!!!!!!!!
It is badges as 'deluxe' at the back - wonder if this is an aftermarket badge because I can't see anything in it that differs from standard. Manual windows, single door mirror (glass mounted) etc. etc.

I don't have the Gold Portfolio but I've had a flick through and it's quite interesting, although it is essentially a collection of black & white articles married together into a book.
If you want a good read (and have lots of time) you can have a look at my own website - click the FiatX link in my signature or follow this direct link.
I've never, ever heard of a 'deluxe' model, so I suspect it's an after-market add-on. Still, it's good to brag that you have the only 'deluxe' model in the club
