Only trouble is its pulling in warm/hot air from the engine and ex manifold most of the time 
but I do remember they sound trick.

You dont want a small bolt on filter that sits on top of a hot exhaust manifold.
You want a DIY induction thingy like mine using:
a ALPHA cone filter
a bit of dent plastic tube taken from my leaf blower
length of neoprene ducting
and a carb adaptor thing.
All put together to positioned the filter right at the side air scoop to catch crisp cold air .
To be honest I am quite proud of it

I enjoy the tinkering bit of owning my cars.

Understandable, I was the same to a certain degree, however misinformation does cause a few of us to add & remove bits that in standard form, offer optimum performance.
