Insurance?? HELP! was created by Tom Williams
I thought this was the most relevant section to post this...

You may laugh that i'm even trying to get insurance, but does anyone know how/a cheap insurance company/hints and tips on insuring a 17 year old... :?

I love my car, but it looks as though i won't be driving it for a long time. :(

I can't afford the insurance if its above £2000, and so far, quotes have been between £2000 and £5000.

I have a 1500 Gran Finale. 8)

Thanks very much

Tom

Cheapest I found was £100 unlimited mileage from Lancaster Insurance with one years no claims
I have full no claims on the CRX, but insurance companies aint daft in that you have to 'start again' with a 2nd car.

HI TOM, I`M VERY SORRY TO SAY I THINK YOU WILL FIND MOST INSURANCE COMPANYS WILL NOT TOUCH YOU, BECAUSE OF YOUR AGE, WHEN MY SON PASSED HIS TEST AT 17 HIS INSURANCE WAS £2580 THIRD PARTY FIRE AND THEFT, EVEN NOW AFTER A YEAR AND A HALF OF HOLDING HIS LICENCE HE STILL CAN NOT GET INSUERED ON THE XEY.

Try getting one of your parents to insure it in their name and have you as a named driver? Only problem is you dont accumulate NCB.... and its frowned upon by some if your parents never actually use the car! But worth it if you can afford to buy a Group 1 insurance rated runabout like a Cinquecento, insure in your name to accumulate NCB and you can still drive your X1/9 on high days and sundays.... Try getting a quote with elephant, they always are cheap for young drivers, and another tip - even if you are the main driver, if you put an older driver with a good few years driving experience on your policy as a named driver it will knock a few quid off the policy too!

thats very true,if you put someone over 40 on your insurance it brings it down considerably
