Lido ready for acid dip. Help needed if poss was created by GPW
Hi All. hope everyone is well. Has been a while since I have been on lost the club mag with the new password. Doh!
Anyhoo I have finaly stripped the Lido completely and its ready to taken down south and chucked into a vat of acid.
The company I will be using is Surface processing Ltd
www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk/index.html
they have been getting good reviews in Practical Classic and the like.
The plan is to get it acid dipped and see how much is left
and what nastys lie hidden, then bring it home for wielding etc then a second trip back down for re-dip the electroplating.
I am hoping one of the Scottish clan can help. I would very much like to borrow a trailer to take the Lido down south on. If someone has such a thing it would be of great help to keep costs down. I have been looking around for a second hand trailer and anything that any good is ££££. very happy to hire it for the price of a few beers
.
On another note the battered and brused red 1300 is going well just looks scruffy  and on a final note my 3rd 1300 special in green is getting delivered soon. Just need to work out if its restorable or just good for bits.
If anyone can help me with a trailer that would be a big help. And if anyone is in the Banchory area kettles always on.
Cheers
Guy

Hi Guy,
Would love to see your car before the acid. There are a few trailer people up here. Lets hope they respond. The chassis doesn't look too bad and the window surround looks great would be cool to see it after the dip as well.
Cheers Graeme

Hi Greame
The windscreen suround is dodgy in a few places but the scuttle is good. easy repair I think.
You are always welcome to come over. When are you free?
Tea, coffee or bear or wine? (if Margo comes with you)
Let me know
Cheers

Wowee, that looks excellent. I'd also love to come and see the process in action if you don't mind an extra hanger-on ?!
Any idea of the rough price to complete the process ?
I'd also be interested in what prep you're required to do before you send the shell off to them, if you know ?
Cheers, Chris
ps I can see a magazine article coming out of this one

Just watched one of the videos which answers my question about cost - they say approx £1500 for strip down and re-coat. That's bloomin' good value IMO.

Hi Chris.
The more thw merrier. I am not sure yet if there is a public gallery to watch the treatment in action it all sounds quite toxic so mr heath and safety might not allow viewing. But I am hoping to get them to take photos or perhaps video the car going through.
Cheers
