I know various people have visited the Bertone museum in Turin, but I've been told it's private and not open to the public.

Who do you talk to in order to visit?

Are you talking about the Stile design centre which isn't at the factory? Also depends when you're going? In August the factory etc tends to be closed. You need to talk to Bertone PR. Used to be Elizabetta who was part of a double act with GBP who's left the company after the old man died. You going this year or next during the Alfa trip? Gomer, Bones and I were given GBP's new contact details a few years ago. I suppose he might be able to pull some strings or at least know who to contact.

Decided to extend the long weekend of the Nurburgring to a week, so will be in Turin for 3 nights from 11th August.
I sent an email via the website - reply as follows

Dear Mr. Golab,
I'm sorry but the museum in Stile Bertone is a private collection belonging to Bertone Family and it
is not open to the public. Best regards

Will be a pity not to be able to go there.

Was also wondering who to contact about possibly driving on the rooftop track at Lingotto - the hotel attached to it say guests can jog around it, so I might try contacting them.

I hired the roof top test track in 1997 and it cost £450 I think. We had nine cars then. I had to submit an insurance document which was a copy of the Owners Club document. They are VERY fussy about who goes up, the speed and any possible damage to the track. To walk around the roof you have to stay at the Meridien Hotel. If you try to sneak onto the track they will come and get you, you can ask Gomer I think it was who tried a couple of years ago.

The private museum is at the Stile design centre, away from the main factory. Who's going with you Steve? How many cars you got going down?

If you're in Torino, go to Biscaretti museum www.museoauto.it/home/ and the smaller Fiat factory museum might be open too.

We also went up in 2000 during the World X1/9 Day. This is the famous photo Bones took on that fabulous day :D

Stelvio - Not sure who took this but it's superbio. Think it's Mike Taylor's

Just before we drive the greatest Alpine road of them all :D

Hi Ewen

Just me going - Frosty can't get time off and Nik & Sandra are a bit strapped for cash. The wife decide to book a week in Tenerife with a friend, so I thought sod it, I'll go to Italy.

Don't think I'll be spending £450+ though to drive on the roof at Lingotto, but I would be happy to change my hotel booking and stay at the Meridien if it means I can at least go up there.

I would really like to visit the Bertone museum - I know Kik & Sandra did it as I've seen the photos - and they went on the Lingotto test track, so I assume that was '97.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Nik and Sandra were on the trip in 2000 when one of the Italian clubs hired the track. That was the 2nd time some of us had been up there but the first time when we had it to ourselves will always be special. We had a tour of the complex but everyone wanted to get in the cars and do the biz on the roof. It wasn't till we came back down to earth that I told everyone we had the drive to Modena lol. Still cracks me up when everyone realised they had to drive approx 160 miles that evening lol. I swear on my map of Europe it was about 2cms lol. I still get stick for it

From GBP when I wrote to him regarding the trip in 1997

Letter from Lingotto regarding the hire of the track. Appears it cost £350 not £450
