Bargain of the century was created by GPW
I have thought of a new topic as a follow on with topic "lucky find"

Post what you think has been your best find/bargain. This is not only to have a bit of a show off and make people a bit envious but also to show others with a bit of luck and hunting around there are still bargains out there to be had.

Try to avoid ebay stuff as we all know about it unless it is unbelivable

for example 4 weeks ago I got a 1300 n/s/r wishbone with good ball joint of ebay for 0.99p :D

Please be honest about prices you quote and where you found things to help others. Photos would be good as well.

Administrators if you dont like the idea please delete

I hope to have a few more bits to add soon.

cheers

Guy

Picked up a new (to me !) X1/9 at the weekend. It's been owned by a friend of my uncle's for a number of years and when she decided to sell it my uncle very kindly gave me the nod and in I swooped ! It's a 1977 1300 with 43k on the clock. The original owner went off the green paintwork but wanted to keep the car, so had it resprayed (yellow !). Hmmm.

Not sure what my plans are regarding keeping / selling - all I know is that Emma is NOT happy having 3 X1/9s, a Coupe and a motorbike lurking around our place :? Something will have to give

Pictures are, hopefully, here .

Wow, nice find Chris! About time you joined the exclusive 1300 sect after many years of trying....! Is it a go-er or does it need any work? Shame about the yellow paint though, why is it ALWAYS the green 1300's that get sprayed over not the blue/reds?

Love the "pimpin" numberplate too!!! :)

ps Mark - why do you want another GF body, you're a sucker for punishment.......!

Just to remind you what a really nice green 1300 looks like ...

The car is owned by a chap in Wimborne Dorset who joined me at the Sherborne Castle show on Sunday. Lovely car, inside and out.

I know you said avoid eBay stuff, but I can't resist :!:

I got a brand new exhaust last March for £45 + £13 delivery  :D :D

Hero Frosty put me on to it... it was badly listed, so didn't show on usual searches.

It was £50 or Best Offer, offered £40, agreed on £45 :!: :!:

Yes... it fits ... it's on the car now :!:

Bargain :?: :?:

Live and let live.

I needed a new engine, was quoted £150 with problems of how to get it home. Found a running tatty car with a decent engine; bought the car for £75 and drove it home...

Proverbial 'shed load' of spare parts too!!

Strippedl bits in the loft, shed, garage, under the bench seat in the garden (oh, the single life!!), bits sold off; hulk dispatched on a low loader. It died so that others may live...
