As usual the X1/9 gets a slagging as being an alternative to the TR7.One of the things they complain about is luggage space. How many other 2 seaters have as much luggage space :!: :!:

id say the x1/9 and mr2 mk1 have as much, if not more space for luggage than the mk1 mx5, another roadster universally lauded for its practicality..(rightly so i may add...)...

Isn't it the other way round, that a TR7 is an alternative to an X1/9? Who needs luggage bl***y space in a sports car for gods sake?

those of us who have to live with them on a daily basis???..when i owned my mx5, my mr2 mk1s, indeed, any of the myriad old, stoopid cars iv had, they have had to be used for the tesco run, the school run, whatever....a modicum of practicality is always welcome...

A 2 seater is never gonna be practical, buy an estate or do you're shopping online!

my point is tho, that a 2 seater CAN be practical...i daresay yer beloved x1/9 is one of the more practical 2 seaters about.....caterhams, atoms etc..exist only for driving pleasure and as such dont need to even be on nodding terms with practicality and all the compromises it can bring....but for most of us, a two seater DOES have to be practical enought to live with on a daily basis.....
..and iv usually got at least one estate car type vehicle lying around in case i need to rob a bank or the like, so i suppose im spoilt
