White knuckles was created by Rachael F
I went for a ride in Nick Troth's V6 X1/9 and the experience was quite exhilarating. Thus I got him to collect my 1987 SE with a view to doing something similar.

I'd go for it... however, mine doesn't feel safe with a 8 valve single cam

With the extra track, wide tyres and upgraded brakes, in my opinion there was no degradation in the car's handling.

now, a stratos replica on an x1/9 floorpan with the big alfa v6 would make pretty good sense...though if i recall, the stratos inherint instability was what made it such a weapon on the rally stages..its lightning responses just made it soo manouverable.....stratos is one of my all time favourite cars....only in italy eh??...

like i said, not a huge fan..but ya gotta admit, a stratos rep on an x1/9 would make sense.....you see the definition......i dont like......would make SENSE...similar footprint/layout etc....
i imagine you are trying to point out a contradiciton which was never there bro..??....a countach on an x1/9 makes no sense to me, but hey, each to their own..cars are compeletley different sizes for a start..its like the loveable lunatics who try to pass off tr7s with a poorly fitting bodykit as f40 ferraris...these things dont equate..dont make SENSE.....the x1/9/stratos thang does.....tho personally, i wouldnt want one....
..is it just the way i write things that makes it all so hard to understand, or is there a concerted effort to belittle newbees on this site..??.....

belittle newbees? - never - we all remember our first faltering steps with our X1/9s!
Your explanation does clear up the apparent differences in your statements though - ta.
Nick Troth's previous V6 X1/9's handling was highly regarded by Ed McDonoghue of Auto Italia mag and a feature written by him was in an AutoItalia back in, maybe, May 2001(?).
Check your AutoItalia archive George!

Yes, some people want unrealistic money for their modified cars!

i dunno..the idea of a pretty, lightweight sportscar with a reliable 130hp or so from a tuneful, compact twin cam sounds good to me..supose the crx 160hp 1.6 vtec would be an ideal candidate....car would then, i suppose, be an italian mr2.....which wouldnt be a bad thing...would it??..

i've been waying up the 16 16v brava/ bravo lump, ok it has certain problems with injectors but i found colombo & bariani do fast road cams which in an italian formula for slightly more than group n produced circa 120 bhp with stable idle and good low power with the standard injection, obviously you'd either have to get a decoded ecu or use an aftermarket unit but they expect that with a decent map and a nice exhaust it could produce closer to 130 bhp.
in another italian formula with more latitude they,ve achieved 160 bhp and its not been too wild to drive. as i'm looking for an occasional car for road and track days, this seems the more likely though after ive worked the mounts out i may put another unit with the milder cams in the other x1/9
i know there's easier ways of getting the power but its an italian unit, fits the x1/9 transmission and doesn't bring the heat problems of a uno turbo unit, also its going to feel more like an italian car should
