Hi folks

I sometimes have a look through the website of Barons Auctions - some pretty interesting classics come up at each sale.

The latest sale was held earlier this week. An Espada sold for £7100 + premium (guide price was £10k-£14k!):

www.barons-auctions.com/lots/YVF254M.htm

Not the best Bertone design (I think the exxy looks better, but I'm biased :D ). Great car for the money though.

Another bargain was a RHD '99 Maserati Quattroporte V8 Evo which had been a Cat D write off but was fully repaired. Sold for £6600 + premium (guide price was £8k-£10k):

What a fantastic car for the money!

I guess as fuel costs spiral ever higher, thirsty cars like these will get even cheaper...

Cheers

Simon

Not the best Bertone design

It has a certain "get out my f**king way!!!" sort of charm to it!

I appreciate the styling is not to everyones taste, but I've always had a penchant for these beasts. 150+mph for a full 4 adult seater.
You have to look out for examples that have been fitted with Jag engines though.

I know what you meen the Espada has a menacing "so bad its good" thing about it. I like the Bertone designed Ferrari 308GTB4 which most Ferrari guys dont seem to like as reflected in thier £15K for a good one price....... There was a lovely Lambo. Uraco at Brooklands another nice Bertone design.

I am with you there Stuart, the 308GTB4 is an overlooked classic. The Urraco too is a nice car, I also like the angular Silhouette that the Urraco became.

On a smaller scale have the Bertone Racing seat ....for a bike and the coffee maker and awaiting the Crash Helmet .......

have a look at the "Clipper 37" aint got room for that in the flat but the photo is at Portofino on the west coast of Italy some six hours drive to get there back in 97 well worth the effort but took two hours to get back in to the camp site
Lamborghini/Bertone used a Lamborghini 400GT "Espada" for the press photo at this location in front of the boat 8)

Squint at an exxy and it could almost be a 308GTB4. Or is that squint at a 308GTB4 and it could almost be an exxy?

From memory, the door handles are similar-ish anyway... :P

Cheers
