SOS Guilford Area

Time is 13:58 on Saturday afternoon and we have an ex Scottish member of the club who has just purchased a car from eBay which has broken down and needs help. Time is 17.00hrs. Paul Santoni is limping up to Birmingham Airport at present. His idea is to try and fly back from Birmigham but if someone has an expansion tank they could sell or let him borrow to get the car home he would be most gratefull. Anyone in the Brum area the noo, if you can help give hime a call on the number above.

I am reasonably close at junction 8 of the M5 and have a spare expansion tank. However Paul is not answering his phone at present. I would have no problem driving accross to him with the tank if you can contact him.

Just talked to Paul on the phone . He is now at Birmingham airport. The tank is no longer leaking after help from the AA. However he is suffering from overheating at 110 deg C. He is currently trying to bleed the system and talking to an AA man. I guess he will ring Ewen when he decides what to do. Time is 17:40

Many thanks for your help guys. Paul got to the heater valve under the dash to work and the car seems to be running much cooler now. For those of you who don't know Paul, he's the guy that put together the tech manual for the club. He has a GF of his own, a Lambo Espada, Countach and a Ferrari 308GT4. He has asked me to thanks those that have phoned to offer help and reports the car seems to be running normally now and with a little luck should make it back to Glasgow in one piece.

I'll let you all know how he gets on.

Sorry Ewen, just picked up your message, not really sure i'd have been much use, i don't know any members in the Guildford area & i'm over an hour away & haven't got a spare tank anyway! Seems Paul is sorted now, hope he's home soon. Ebay & X1/9s don't seem to mix!

No probs Nigel, Saturday afternoon and everyone was bound to be out playing anyway. Next time :shock:

Paul made it home last night. He says the car is sound with bodywork almost perfect but I think there were a few mechanical problems to get the thing up the road. Never mind, a little fine tuning and a thrash here and there and it should be right as rain.

This is for his daughter so we might have a new member.
