Celebrating the rebirth

In 1997 some of you accompanied me on a memorable tour of Italy. That tour I think has to have been the best :-) Bertone, Maerati, Lingotto roof top drive etc, etc. It was a long haul but boy did we live the dream.

I took a cracking car on that trip, a silver 1500 reg DJN 310X. On returning to the U.K. the cylinder head blew 50 miles south of Manchester. The car was recovered via the AA nad has slept in a Carcoon ever since.

Tonight the car was winched from the confines of my garage and the car slowly rolled into natural sunlight for the first time in 10 years. Just before the trip to Italy the car had been given a full bare metal respray and tonight I realised the car is still a true head turner. A few spots of rust but once the new engine has been shoe horned in the car will look and drive as Bertone's masterpiece should.

CRL awaits his turn for some TLC but hopefully DJN will be back on the road shortly where he belongs.

Hi Ewen,
The car is OK but the trailer looks fantastic, is that the one you were bringing down to the North East last Tuesday.
How many have you got for July 12th.

Hi Ewen - DJN looks like a cracking little car. It's one of the few colours (IMHO) that make the big bumpers look good.

Good luck with her.

Thanks Chris, the silver/grey kind of gun metal is a nice colour but unusual. I was always a bit unsure but with a nice shiny set of alloys it makes the car very modernistic if that makes any sense :-)

Alan, what's happening on the 13th? You've got me thinking

Ooops lol, sorry Alan, my brain's full of other things at the moment. Cars to pick with my trailer, cars to deliver, collecting stuff for the car and trying to figure out how I'm going to afford it all :-)

"Five Alive" indeed. Was a superb trip. I just look to see if the company I used to book the ferry tickets and first and last nights accomodation is still going and yes it is. Well worth a look. www.drive-alive.co.uk/

I spoke to someone who got a tour round Lamborghini which has to be top of the list. Also need to visit the vineyard. Anything else is a bonus.

How about that 2010 trip then to celebrate. I might also have a trip to Mount Kinabalu to celebrate my cousin's 50th but I think 2010 would be a good round number to organise a return marathon :-)
