Does anyone know if the camshaft pulleys are the same for 1300 and 1500
engines, need a one for 1300 engine but notice that Alt Autos list only
a 1500 on parts list.

Hi,

I'm guessing that they are the same. I've got a Vernier 1300n Uno one on my 1500.
You can try my old one if you want.

Hi,
Thanks for the response, have discovered that they are the same dimensions
but the timing marks are different.
Have found a second hand plastic pulley but they are prone to cracking and the consequences of a failure would be serious and expensive so would be interested in your old one, will send a private message later.
Regards
Alan

Hi Alan, try Claire at Eurosport. Alt Auto's have lost interest in X1/9's hence the rise in prices plus the web site is about 10 years out of date. I'm shifting all parts purchases and enquieies to Eurosport. Their web site shop is nearly up and running. Just waiting for Bones to fine tune it and it should be the best exy store around with the BEST prices. I hate being ripped off and know that some stores are starting to take advantage :-(

Ciao the noo, Ewen

p.s. loved th photos and story of the 1300. There must be more of these cars just hiding away waiting for anoraks to buy em up and restore them.

Hi Ewen,
Thanks for that, things are getting a bit pricey.
Thought you would have put your anorack on and snapped up a bargain
from Morpeth.
See you at the weekend, reserve some warm weather, like last year would do fine.

They are the same dimension but noticed that the plastic 1300 one has a lip and no lip on the crank. The 1500 has the lip on the crank but not on the cam pulley. Don't know if this is important.

Good point Grimy, the teeth are the same 42 of them at .375 pitch, this was the very first imperial form of the timing belt used in the sixties, however the flange is importent to stop the belt walking off the side of the pulley.
The cast metal cam pulley on my 1500 has no flange whereas the plastic one on a 1300 has a single flange on the inside.
On such a drive it is best to have one pulley with two flanges or at least one flange on opposite sides of two other pulleys.
It may not be a good idea to fit the all metal no flange cam pulley on the 1300 as it stands.
Further investigation needed I think.

Lots on the seattle x1/9 forum about these plastic pulleys: www.network54.com/Forum/12159/message/11...lleys+on+X%27s%21%21

Looks like a 'must do' task to perform on both my 1300s! Do keep us posted on how things go Alan...

From reading all the posts I would guess then that if you are replacing a plastic pulley on a 1300 for a metal one from a 1500 then you must also replace the other two. The first Ireland trip I went on the cam pulley failed on Tony's immaculate 1300. He got home thou with the help from Dave. 8)
