Replacement/Remanufactured Parts was created by SurreyX1/9
Forgive me if this has already been covered or discussed, as I am new to this forum.

As the years pass and parts for classic cars become less available, the requirement for re-manufacturing critical key components becomes a matter for consideration for many car clubs catering for older vehicles. Without the combined resources of a dedicated club, and spares secretary, many classic cars on the road today would possibly be confined to static museum pieces.

Several clubs have benefitted from the procurement and retention of OEM parts whilst still available, so that they may be used at some future point as a reference pattern for remanufacture. (Subject of course to the usual formalities).

With finite resources, only those items that are essential to the roadworthiness of the vehicle should perhaps be considered.

This might be the appropriate time to start thinking about the future in these terms, and building up a provision for the long term.

Hi there and welcome to the Forum Surrey X1/9 from a fellow 1300 owner! (btw what type of 1300 do you own?)

Anyway I raised a similar topic abouts parts supply a couple of years back:

Many thanks for the welcome.
My X1/9 is a 1,300 Special Series registered May 1977. Metallic orange, with the ladder stripe decals. I have owned it since 1982.
With experience running other classics, immediately after buying the vehicle, and with a view to long term ownership, I sourced and replaced all worn items of original trim, panel work and accessories when still available from Fiat franchise dealers. An extensive mechanical overhall was conducted during the period 1997-1999 for the same reason.
Thank you for the forum link, it would appear that extensive discussions relating to the topic were indeed exchanged some while back.

Blimey I was still in nappies in 1982....! I've only owned my brace of Serie Speciales for a couple of years. (1 x green, 1 x blue). Your car sounds fantastic, post some pictures up if you can!

Subsequently to the discussion I linked to there was a big suspension group buy last year so it can happen and I know that the Monte Hospital re-manufactures an amazing array of parts for the Lancia Montecarlo so there is a market out there it just takes time and effort and money to get things going....

In my view we should be looking to existing part sales buisnesses to help us here and one which now stands out as a future champion to our cause is Eurosport which has recently been taken over by real enthusiasts. I like to view them as the additional parts suppliers within the club. They're keen and very enthusiastic and from what Tiff and I have seen, have prices which are reasonable and don't try to rip us off. That's my view so why don't you get in touch with them
