Travelling in convoy was created by Micheal_Norfolk
In last weeks Classic Car Weekly there is a short news piece about cars travelling in convoy. It appears that it is illegal to have more than eight cars in a convoy, this applies to the military as well.
It seems that local police have been using this to crack down on the "max power" crowd.
I only mention this as we are in the show season and the National is just around the corner and it will only take one over zealous traffic officer or one prat in a convoy to upset everyone.

You get the same issue with the bike rallies. How can you not get a convoy down a single lane road when 20+ cars are all going in the same direction; have you ever tried to get 3000 bikes into a race circuit WITHOUT a convoy. Should we be penalised just because our que of cars are the same design
For the National there will be no convoys, just a number (hopefully a large number) of independent drivers that decide to follow a similar route!
Bah humbug

Do we get a route map so that if we do get lost we do not have to ask a policeman

If you can find a policeman down here you would be doing well. The're usually busy practising high speed pursuits on the winding country roads rushing between Gatsos to make sure they have film in them

When does a queue become a convoy?
I have travelled in and organised convoys of minis, beetles,MGs and 2cvs and the only time we had any trouble was on a beetle run in the early '80's. Some of the group decided to start weaving from side to side when bored with slow traffic.
Most of the time I think the Police believe classic cars owners are sensible pillars of the community
