I might be in the market for a new air flow meter, does anyone happen to have one spare sitting in a cupboard I could acquire ?

Unfortunately, turbo air flow meters are unobtainable new. Trying to get a good second hand one is almost impossible, as given their age many will have faults, that without specialist kit will be difficult to check before buying. Also, that model of airflow meter was fitted to a number of vehicles, the difference being the set up specific to that vehicle - again almost impossible to check without specialist knowledge.
I know all this as I've been through it all a few years ago. I ended up binning the original ecu and air flow meter and fitting a programable ecu (Maxx, but many others e.g. Omex) This gets away from the trouble of having to source unobtainable/dodgy parts and gives you far better engine management - absolutely essential if you are doing any tuning above standard hp. The down side is the cost. I cant remember (selective memory loss!) the exact cost. but with the ecu, new engine loom, various other bits, fitting and setting up is going to be around £2000.
