I'm a new member with a Bertone VS 1985 Model
It's rust free and original and am having fun
I used to have one when I first met my girlfriend in 1988, which turned into a long happy marriage, so thought it would make a fun winter project
Do you have a page with parts for sale that would aid my restore??
Need interior light covers, passenger Bertone grill, plastic covers to the side of the seat belts (brown)an interior door handle surround(brown)and I'm sure there will be more bits needed
Does anyone know if you can get aerosol paints I the original colours

Many thanks in anticipation :-)

Hi Mark and welcome!

If you check the X1/9 info on the top menu bar there is a section under there for paint colour codes.
You can then get the correct colour mixed hopefully from that.

Generally if you list the parts you are looking for members will probably reply if they have them spare.

It would also be good if you could get a few pictures uploaded onto the forum so that we can admire your pride and joy :cheer: . Also, it helps to identify the correct parts that you are after.

Where are you located in the country?

Looking forward to seeing more of your car.

Cheers

Andy

You'll be able to get an aerosol in the correct paint code at Halfords or other motor factors.

The paint code on mine is on a sticker on the underside of the boot lid in case your looking for it. If you can't find it at Halfords then ebay will certainly have the paint you need

Not a million miles from me, I'm in Trowbridge. Can't help with your bits, but good choice of car ;)

Thanks for all your helps
I tried the paint mix from Halfords, so far only the metallic mid, and not only was the paint nothing close to the original but the spray head from the can gave a terrible flow/angle/delivery
I did this on a test panel before applying to the car, so will try a factor to see if they can get closer to a decent match and finish :)

When I had my first X1/9 resprayed I took it to a local car paint supplier.

Rather than going with the original paint spec we used the colour charts against the car to get a good match. Obviously the original paint had faded over the years and to use the original paint spec would have meant a complete bare chassis strip down, which I didn't want to do at the time.

Sorry to hear that, the mica blue I bought is perfectly fine for the odd stone chip on mine. BUT we've not done panels with it!

I have a small local car spray shop that will any colour as long as you have the paint code, they will do sprays or a touch up or what ever you need, there must be some place similar down near you, and about half the price of Halfords

I used Chips Away to fix a small scrape on one of our other cars. They do not use the paint code at all, but have a colour analyiser which they then plug in to a laptop, which gives them the formulation to mix the paint in their van. A perfect match is guaranteed.

Seems a better way to go is use a specialist
I have a bigger problem at the moment is the head gasket has blown (don't know why)lots of smog and temperature went through the scale, so with only a couple of miles its into the local garage for repair but thanks for all your advice and help

Thank you
I now have most of the parts I need but the passenger bonnet black air grill and interior light covers, but you light covers seem hugely expensive!!!
