Tan seats? was created by Jeff
Hello all,

After getting TPJ663X its MOT and running nicely (for the first time since 2009!) I have now moved onto cosmetics, the current seats are the rainbow stitched type (from an '88 car) with blue "leather" accenting. I am after the tan seats to suit an '82 with the tan interior. Condition of mine are a good 8/10, with very miniscule areas of stitching in need of refurb (in case an exchange of some kind is on the cards). Thanks in advance!

Just another note, not sure if I am being blind but I cannot for the life of me find the paint colour code for my X, the engine cover label is missing so I cant be sure which 'red' is the right one on colour code charts! Mine is the same colour is this www.silverstoneauctions.com/fiat-x19-bertone .

Thanks in advance! Regards Jeff

Hi Jeff, there should be a paint code sticker on the underside of the boot lid. Hope your brakes are all sorted now!

The 'rainbow' stitched seats... are they common? My car (77) has what I assume you're referring to and I would like some spare material to make some repairs.

Hi Rachael, yes the brakes are as good as ever thank you! And the underside of the boot and engine lids were the first places I checked, but a previous owner appears to have removed it in order to give it its current shoddy respray!

Hi Andrew,I think the rainbow seats were only used on the latest cars but in terms of their rarity I can't say for certain (though I certainly cant find tan nor rainbow seats for sale anywhere online!) As I obviously need to have seats in place I will only be selling on my current ones when I have some tan seats in my hands. Regards Jeff

Jeff,

Not sure whether yours might be what is known as "metallic light red", see screen shot below. The 836 is the paint code.
However, depending on what you are wanting to do it might be worth getting a colour match to suit it as it is now (i.e faded / aged from original) if you are planning on just doing a bit of touching up.

If it's a full respray then you can just use the paint code.

Andy

Glad to hear brakes are sorted!

I wonder if your car is the same colour as the 1981 car I rescued a few weeks back? Mine is metallic orange 902. it is quite a coppery orange colour.

Are the "tan" seats you refer to the ones with a cream coloured canvas look to the side bolster panels, or do you mean full all over tan vinyl?

Thank you very much Andy, I am planning a full exterior respray in Autumn sometime so the paint code would be necessary way to go.

Jeff, can you get to the metal bulkhead behind the passenger seat? The paint shop often scribble the intended colour there in black marker pen. For instance, my blue GF had "blu micalizzato" and the 1981 car has "arancio" scribbled there. That may give you a clue.

Not sure if I would call mine coppery but maybe it's just faded - it's something between the Gran Finale dark red, and bright red (my avatar is now changed to mine so you can see now anyway!). I am not actually sure what type of tan seats it would have had, because I've seen so many images of tan interior'd X19s with full vinyl tan, some with cream side bolsters, others with tan side bolsters, so I probably won't be picky.

Thanks, I will check the bulkhead when it has stopped pouring with rain!
