Tubular exhaust manifold was created by Martin Rutter
I am building a new engine for hill climb use and I am looking for a tubular exhaust manifold. Does anyone have anything suitable? CSC seems to be the only readily available option but I am not sure if this manifold offers any significant flow improvement apart from making a lot of noise? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

Wow - a lot of money!
I guess there will be something available from the Italian tuners. It might be simpler to just visit an exhaust specialist and get one made, that's my plan for the V6.

If my competitor breaks a leg they're off the grid for six months; if I break my leg all I need is a couple of minutes and a 5mm Allen key. Alex Zanardi.

A couple of hours later and you have the exhaust you desire fora fraction of the cost of a ready made one.
£600!!!
I'll do one for my car some time to see how much I can do it for.

i look forward to seeing your work Robert, stainless steel parts are always way over the top price wise

I was going to get together a bunch of parts and let Nick Troth have a go on the V6 car, but when I started looking there are so many different options and configurations that might suit I thought it better to just take the car to a specialist and let them make one up to fit.

Anyone out done the math on how long the headers need to be to useful? or whether 4 into 1, 4 into 2, or 4 into 2 into 1 is better?

You need to invest in Guy Croft's book! Julian B might have some knowledge he can impart.

As an engineer yes I have considered the maths and then I spoke to some experts.
The CSC 4 branch is ok for road use and will improve mid-range torque but longer primaries are required for a high revving race type engine.
I think it was Superrace (italian company) made my stainless steel system. 28" primaries 4-1 and a very snug fit on my hillclimb X1/9. Splendid.
Just about legal to MSA noise test.
I'll find some pics and add later.

Thanks Gordon. I have just looked at Super Race in Italy and they do seem to have some good options. They do have an out and out race system but also a less extreme 4 into 1 which looks interesting. They say you have to request diameter of "round exits" from either 60/70/76/80/90/100. I assume they mean the final exhaust diameter in mm!!
