1300 Wheel Bearing Tool and Alternator

Hello All,

My car passed its MOT today and whilst it was at the garage I asked them to replace a front wheel bearing which I supplied. I didn’t realise that I should have also bought a Wheel Bearing Retaining Ring. However, even if I had the ring the garage couldn’t do the job as they need a tool to undo and tighten the ring. Does anyone have a tool for doing this that they no longer require and would like to sell? I understand it’s like an eight sided socket.

Also, on the way home from the garage my alternator conked (it had been whirring a bit for the last few days). Again does anyone have an alternator for a 1300 that they don’t need and would like to sell?

Regards

Hi Keith,
Sorry to hear about your bearing and alternator problems. I have a spare alternator to fit a 1300 that I can sell you - the only difference to the original 1300 alternator is that the voltage regulator is built-in.

However, you shouldn't need to make any major changes to your wiring to use it (if you currently have an external voltage regulator) - I'm using the same alternator as the ones I have as spares (i.e. with in-built voltage regulator) and it works perfectly - my car is a 1977, 1300 special series, with no modifications.

I'll post some pics later today so you can see what I mean.
All the best,
Em.
