I have a slight play in the rear wheel bearing right hand side, there is no undue noise from bearing when wheel rotated, I can only feel slight play when shaking the wheel.
Is this a problem developing?
How difficult is it to replace bearing, can you purchase new bearing and already pressed into hub, or has anyone a good second hand one for sale?
If your bearing has some play then over time it will only get worse and eventually break up.
For the rear wheel bearings it is going to be difficult to hear a rumbling noise from the bearing unless you can knock it out of gear and then you may only be able to hear when cornering.
The success of the job depends on how easily you can get the hub assembly off. I would recommend getting it pressed out and a new one pressed in at a garage or a workshop somewhere. This would ensure that the new bearing is fitted properly.
If you go down the route of using a second hand hub assembly, you cannot guarantee that the bearing is any better than the one you have and you will still need to remove the hub assembly anyway.
Hope this helps
