Carpet plates front edge of doors was created by Andrew Punter
Hi anyone got a pair of the black "J" shaped metal plates that hold the carpet at the front edges of the door frames? I've never seen a pair come up on ebay!

That's because they all rust away!! I use self tappers with a few washers to do the job which isn't ideal. What we could really do with is someone loaning a set in good condition to a fiber-glass company like Smith and Deakin in Worcester. Then we could all have a perfect set cheaply without any rust issues. I did that with a metal 1300 spoiler -- Smith and Deakin made the mould and can now produce them as and when required!

Ah ha, so I am not alone finding the bottom 2 inches or so "not fit for purpose" !

The parts are quite thin and need to be stiff - powder coated stainless steel?

Humm ! you are sooooo not alone trying to sorce these, I have one good one on the near side which I managed to clean up prime and respray, but alas the off side one is missing completley.

As mentioned they do tend to rust due to the thickness of the metal. having just stripped out the interior and changed the carpets from faded red to new black one's it would finish the job off if I could also sorce on for the o/s.

Like rocking horse teeth to find !! :lol:

I think I need to see a pair in reel life first before i can say that I can produce them, but after a look in my car I would think that it´s just a thin piece of metal shaped like something in between the shape of a I and a J. If it is flat it´s easy to punch out with the right tool. So in any metal. Stainless will probably give the best result. Rigid and "no need" of any surface treatment. Without thinking of cost here.

Maybe I jumped a little quick into a solution here. Do anyone have a picture of, and some measures ?
