Has anyone got a metal cam pulley wheel for sale? Need one with the metal lip on one edge that stops the belt walking off to replace the rattly plastic one on my 1300! Before anyone says try the usual club parts suppliers... yes I have tried them all without any luck!

Hi Jim,
There are some comments about pulleys on the News and Views section under Cambelt.
The plastic camshaft pulley on the 1300 has a single flange and to the best of my knowledge new ones are not available. Second hand ones may have cracks in them and they are difficult to spot.
The cast iron camshaft pulley used on the 1500 does not have a flange, instead the flange is on the lower crankshaft pulley.
If you use a 1500 iron pulley you will not have any guide flanges on the drive
It was suggested I think by Grimy that a possible solution could be to replace
the cam and crank pulleys as a set from a 1500, providing of course they would physically fit.
This way one pulley in the drive has a flange.

Hi Jim,
You could try speaking to Claire at Eurosport, have heard tonight that they are trying to source new plastic pulleys from the USA.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the repsonse! Unfortunately Claire at Eurosport does not have the pulleys...

However I've just found these aluminium pulleys being sold in the States:

Linky!

What do you think? I know a bit pricey... but I can't find these anywhere else and I just want a fit and forget solution. Only thing that concerns me is that the guide flange seems to be on the opposite side to my existing plastic pulley, anyone know whether this would be a problem?

Jim.

Well I got in touch with the seller (Matt Brannon) of Midwest X1/9 the company that was selling this pulley and as it happens the picture of the pulley was flipped so in fact the lip was on the correct side after all! I bought the pulley (unfortunately it was the last one he had in stock) and it just arrived and I have to say I was very impressed with their service and also the quality of the pulley... I guess the proof will be in the pudding once its actually on the car and gets some miles under its belt (excuse the pun!) :)
