Hi
I dont have a winding mechanism but the wire you can buy at any B & Q if that helps. Mine was frayed so went looking for some & found it in B&Q, they have reals of different sized wire which you can cut to what ever length you want. I think 4m is enough.
To secure the wire on the mechanism just solder a big blob on the end of the wire.
Hope this helps

Second hand ones are available from America.
I've recently bought a new unused one from Matt at Midwest X1/9's
Just remember you need a passenger door one from USA to fit a drivers door in the UK.
The strong exchange rate makes it a good buy at the moment.

Hi Red
To get the old wire off all you need is a pair of wire nippers and nip at each thread of the wire, easy. If you do go down this route (you may have already!) you just need to remember which end of the wire goes through which hole on the winding gear before soldering.
