A pair of X1/9s was created by Steve Golab
A non-member contacted be about two cars he wants to get rid of - he had the common sense to contact the club and give us the opportunity to either repair or strip the cars rather than just sending them to the crusher.
He was using one, decided to go for a UT conversion, removed the engine, stripped the UT, bought another for spares and then progress stopped.

Both 1500s, one V-reg and the other C-reg. Having seen them, I would think they are beyond salvation, but there are a lot of good bits.

I've not seen them as they are located elsewhere, but he says he has a very good rear boot lid and engine cover & bumpers.
Also a box of tappet shims and 3 very good Cromadora (3-spoke) hub caps.

The vinyl interiors are crap, but the dash is ok.

The V-reg car has interesting home-made bumpers in stainless steel (see pics).

If anyone wants any bits, let me know and I'll get them for you.

If you want the car(s), let me know.

If nobody wants anything, I will go and strip them myself - there are still a lot of useful bits on the cars and I can't just let them be scrapped.

He needs the space for a new Fiat 500, so they won't be around for long - a month in fact.

I think the doors on both cars are beyond repair - here is a pic of the passenger side of the blue one:

I don't look too closely at engine cover on the red one, but I'll get it for you, and you can have the good one that I did not see.

Hi Steve,
Regarding the Uno Turbo bits, is everything there to be able to rebuild a complete engine AND gearbox (bell housing etc.) without having to strip mine for donor parts?
Ideally what I'd like is to build up and have everything ready to just do a straight swap.
Cheers,
Mick

Mick - The UT engine is in pieces in the garage - block is visible in the first picture, on the bench on the right, the head and cam cover on the floor. He also showed me an X1/9 sump, which had been modified with an additional pipe for the UT conversion. I did not see a gearbox, but since it all came from the donor car also sat in the field, I guess it is around somewhere.
I will find out for you.

Mark - the unseen 'good' boot lid has your name on it, and I will get the other one too if it is any good.
