Also, when ticking over when warm what are the revs? They should be sitting at about 950 rpm at idle.
There is a screw on the back of the carb for adjusting the tick over speed.

anyway more issues... took her for shakedown, finslly got to drive an x1/9! great little thing!! however... lights super dim, heard a squeak from drivebelt area (maybe) in engine and then engine cuts out and wont restart oweing to a flat battery... started with a jump though, and drove her home. previously battery was flat after being left for a couple of days too... no dash illumination just the brake light flickers occasionally... (doesmnt light up when handbrake on though...) all gauges work, and indictor/headlight lights all iluminate on dash just no backlight.. interior lights non funcional either. as ever... helkp guys!1 thoughts?

Check the condition of it and if it looks a bit dodgy replace it. They are not expensive.

I always carry a cigarette lighter volt meter around now. 50% of breakdowns are due to battery and charging issues however I'm not sure if this figure is correct for X1/9s though!!!
Who needs 4th gear anyway...
