Haha, what a lovely sight! :) you've gone one better than me, at one stage I had 3 X1/9s lined up neatly outside my house! Thats a nice green 1300, who does it belong to?

Do all Exies migrate north in the summer cos they overheat down south where the sun does shine more?

Cheers,

Hi Tiff ..... glad to see mine (well yours now) isn't lonely.

For the others - the result of my June "cough-up or get-rid" dilema (where it was a *lot* of welding to get through the MoT and which would still leaving me with a car which was basically a bit knackered), was that I decided to donate it to Tiff. I decided to myself that he has the skill and motivation to save it if at all possible, and if it is really really past it to make best use of it for spares for the ones that he looks after.

Tiff's words after putting it up on his ramps "its rusted in some very strange places ... probably the worst one I have seen" at least vindicate my decision.

I am getting withdrawl symptoms, and I'm sure I'll have the pleasure of driving one again in the not too distance future.

Andy

Oh my, poor FAG sitting outside on a nice summer evening :D That'll be Mr Maclean's too, winner of best modified at the National last year. All well know cars Tiff and all in your care

Just to let you know, the trip to Udine was almost perfect. Car never missed a beat although on the way back the heat got a bit much and hot starting reared its ugly head. Engine cover won't lock down now so cable ties had to be used. Still to have a look at the bugger this weekend.

Just one note of warning going over the Alps. Keep and eye out for rock falls........

Ciao the noo and looking forward to the Highland meet, Ewen

Question.........what's the best colour to respray a 1300? Red is out cos it's common....green maybe? ICI green we already have one in Scotland so how about the lime green? What about yellow? The original yellow 1300's were lovely. If the 1300 has the rusty orange interior would yellow go with this? Got you all thinking haven't I

Original metallic 390 Green as per the Special Series is the best colour for a 1300 by a long shot! (but then I'm slightly biased...) failing that yellow definitely is the colour to have, as a 1300 in yellow looks the dogs danglies... however I'd re-trim the interior in a black leather/vinyl to really go well with the yellow though....

Ewen - your absolutely right. I took my car up to Tiffs on Wednesday afternoon - he is in the process of giving it a good going over and sorting out various issues - cannot believe how much he has achieved already.

Tiff - this is a very public thank you for all your hard work!!!!!

Jim, you're right for a yellow car but you need the original Lotus style seats of series 1. I wouldn't have the heart to change the interior of a standard car anyway. Green..............yum but I believe the ICI green is far superior to our greens in this country but then I'm biased as we have one in Scotland seen in the photo above.

David, good to hear that your car is getting a wee holiday up in Kirkaldy, will be good to see it thrashing around the twisty lanes on the Highland weekend.

Tiff's the main man as you know and we are lucky to have such a treasure up here in Scotland. Just don't let him know I called him treasure cos he might take it the wrong way

Yep thats right Ewen - you need the Series 1 style black leatherette like this car here !

Hmmmm isnt it about time us Southerners put together an attractive financial package to tempt Tiff to up sticks and re-locate to the South to service our X1/9s? after all theres a huge untapped market down here as we don't suffer as badly from the dreaded tinworm...

(dons tin hat and dodges flak from all the mad Jocks here... ;) )

Hi Paul, I have fond memories of Caerphilly :) Arrived late at night in fog many years ago in my lorry. It was a pea soup fog and I couldn't see a thing. Dropped the load in the morning and noticed a wee castle surrounded by a moat.........the word astonished comes to mind as I had driven past the night before without seeing anything.

Burnt orange mmmmmmmmmm, would look nice with a fresh coat I have to agree.

As for that yellow series 1 Jim, lovely :P Those wheels I have seen before but red. Can you still get those alloys here?

Tiff, was it 1978 when Scotland last qualified for said World Mug competition? Ali's Tartan Army wasn't it? When you do relocate down here Tiff, you'll find the climate is better for them aching bones after a hard day under our southerners' Exies!! Remember, i'll do your accounts & VAT
For what it's worth, a decent 1300 in any original colour is something to treasure, although i've got a soft spot for that light metallic blue.

Cheers,

Nige
