Wheel quandry - style guru's required !

Just in the process of refurbing a set of CD-30 alloys ( like this for those that are unfamiliar with them).

Clearly the natural choice is a nice shiny silver finish, but someone at work suggested WHITE ! I was initially quite shocked at the thought, but the car's Mica Blue so white might actually not look that bad ...

Any thoughts ? Would I get flogged and beaten if I turned up at the National Event with white wheels ? Is silver the 'sensible' way to go ?

I am all for individuality and modifications, but white wheels does seem a bit too much even for me. However, I am more than willing to be proved wrong.

I know I'm the last person to ask about style, but I'd just laugh... and then apologise most profusely cos you're bigger than me!!!

White wheels you say?.... My new '77 came with white 13" compomotives which look fine to me.

I think it would look pretty sharp against mica blue, maybe worth finding a friendly photoshop guru to airbrush a set onto your X. That or have one side white and one side silver... :P

Regards,
Iain

Hi ChrisPR - do I take it you're dumping those nice momo's you've got fitted or are the CD wheels for a different car? I ummed and ahh'd before I got my speedlines refurbed and I superimposed a white rim onto a photo of my car - looked a bit gay (if I can get away with saying that!) Ok for about 5 mins but unless you've a big body kit and you're trying to make some speed statement, I reckon metallic silver is your best choice. I even thought about that totally polished look which is fine if you want to look like a drug dealer  respect 'dem wheels; wish I had some!

Hi Chris
Your car your choice, but i have seen a set with the inner slots in black and the outer in silver and they looked pretty cool,
The white wheels always remind me of purple marinas with wolf race steel wheels on, (hhhhuuurrh bad flash back to bad hair days and OMD playing on a tinny binatone stereo)

What the hell go for it.

Sorry Chris - Im firmly in the camp of keeping the wheels silver, CD-30's are too nice an alloy to bastardise... :P

disclaimer - i'm slightly biased having a nice set of SILVER CD-30's on my 1300...

Having said that white wheels DO look very nice on white rally cars such as the Integrale, Mitsubishi EVO etc!

Hmm, well, ok I'm picking up vibes that you're not all that impressed with white wheels

There are plenty more colours out there to choose from ...
