X1/9 convoy to Brooklands May 4th

Fortunately this year I have been able to book off from work the Saturday for Brooklands Auto Italia on May 4th. I haven't been since 2014, but back then we organised a meet up prior and went down in convoy. I'll always remember looking back in my rear view mirror and seeing nothing but X1/9s and Montecarlos on every lane of the motorway. I live in the middle between Hereford and Worcester, so would either be heading the Gloucester A417 south way or the more scenic Evesham/Cotswolds/Oxford way. We had 24 X19's when I attending this event so I'd like to shout about it and get everyone interested!

I have contacted Phil Ward of AutoItalia Magazine requesting that both the X1/9s and Fiat Coupes be allocated specific areas where we can actually find our friends and chat without having to search the entire site. ( I am also involved with the Coupe Club)
The problem is that volunteer marshals at Brooklands don't seem to stick to the site plan on the day. I have asked Phil to emphasise the need for this to be resolved urgently.

A general point is that it is worth getting there as early as possible as there can be queues at the gate,
Also the local roads cannot cope if there is an incident. This year I tried to take my X1/9 to the new years day meeting only to hit a non-moving traffic queue 3 miles from Brooklands due to an accident. The delay to traffic was over an hour: I turned round and went home.

Phil Ward has confirmed that a specific area will be allocated to us at AutoItalia.

I hope to go again and you’re even welcome to meet at my house to reconvene before heading to Brooklands as I’m only 30mins away the other side of the m25. I’m sure the neighbours would be impressed too!

An update if attending as part of the Fiat Forum

It's all Change!!!

The FiatForum will be having its stand around the Concorde and other aeroplanes this year with access via Merecdes-Benz World and over Vickers Bridge. This entrance will close at 10.00am, late comers will need to enter through the normal Brooklands Road entrance.

IMPORTANT
Due to the location (and gate) change, all cars going on the stand will now require a stand pass. These will be sent out to everyone who has marked themselves as attending a few days before the event, so if you want to park with us, MAKE SURE TO CLICK ABOVE! (See "How do I signup?")

Ok - so I've spoken to Phil Ward today who can grant us an X1/9 stand on part of the old race circuit. Can I please confirm numbers attending asap

I had mentioned to Phil that there should be an estimated 6 X1/9s at the event a while ago Rob,

I'm not sure if I will be going there in mine as it will depend whether it has any useable wheels following a messed up refurb. (Note, Cromodora wheels are Magnesium and should not be treated the same as Aluminium ones)
If I have X1/9 wheels back by then,which car I take will probably depend on the weather on the day as I also have a Fiat Coupe.

I was planning on going, as it’s only a thirty minute drive but when I went to book tickets at the weekend see the price has gone up again. As they are relying on Italian cars for the event, it seems a bit much to charge people more than usual to go.

I will go, if the weather is OK.

It's Brooklands Museum who have put the prices up on all admissions and subscriptions yet again this year.

Unfortunately AutoItalia have little say in the matter. If you go to more than 3 events in a year it makes economic sense to become a Brooklands Trust member at £43 a year. That way the charge for premium events such as AutoItalia comes down to £2.50 if the tickets are bought in advance. Other events there is no charge if you show them your membership card at the gate.

I am a very recent owner of my 1st X1/9 and live not too far from Brroklands. I have booked through the Fiat Forum to attend this event

TEST HILL SESSION
All cars are invited to run in the Test Hill session.
Signing on from 13.15.
Briefing 14.00
Children passengers for Test Hill must be properly seated and supervised.
Crash helmets are not required.
Hillclimb session subject to ground clearance.
A suggested £5 donation is requested to help fund planned surface restoration.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Access for entrants and vehicles from 08.00.
Your car/cars need to be in position in the holding area by 10.00.
On site parking available for transporters.
Brooklands is outside the London emissions zone.
Access is via Brooklands Road entrance unless otherwise advised.
Alfa Romeo owners access via Heights car park.

Track is all booked up but there is some space on the hill climb so I'd like to give it a go.
