X1/9 Calendar was created by Terry Gaskin
Ok had a brain wave.....

I'm sitting here at work looking at a Mini calendar for 2012. Best I could do and it was free in a mag.... So thought is. Can the printer that does the club mag do a calendar for 2013 for us?

We can use club members cars, maybe resto's in progress etc, 40th bash and basically use a known calendar format. We could even offer it to X1/9 owners on the Fiat forum and elsewhere to generate some revenue for the club.....

what do you think?

1983 1500 (currently restoring it)
1989 1500 GF - on the road
2003 Mazda RX8 - modern version of the X1/9

Aspires to a Lancia MonteCarlo (code number by Fiat and Lancia X1/8 then X1/20)

Think that it needs to be a "free be" from the club to all its members as a "christmas gift" but needs to be done by this years commitee !!! thinking of doing a Calandar in November after the AGM with a new elected commitee does not work ie AGM in October first meeting in November and agreed Printing and posting in a month is not possible.
The club has done Calendars over the years the main problem is thinking that they can be sold to other parties there are so many free calanders, that they do not sell to the club or to any other X1/9 clubs. In the past the Dutch and Club Europa have asked us to come in on doing a joint calandar to help with production costs wall mounted or desk mounted etc.
Have last years wall mounted from the Dutch club which is in my collect of X1/9 momentos.
We did have a graphic artist(X1/9 member) who did prints for calandars we only used one set and the others were stored for the following year .... so they may be stored some where ? this may help to reduce cost on production costs involved.
Technology has moved on perhaps it could all be done before the last magazine for this year ..that would be good

well not sure about the free bit, wasn't expecting a freebie. I would be happy to pay for a quality calendar if it could be arranged.....

would be cool though as although i am a mini fan from years past would be better to have an X1/9. Also i would want two! As my current fridge calendar is a VW camper!!!

How much did you pay for your calendar this year? and you ve also high lighted another problem as I would prefer to have a desk top calendar .....with red x1/9s only but on a serious note the club had/have the funds for a calendar to be produced in the past if you suggest that the subject be raised at the next commitee meeeeeting then they can advise you if it is possible ???

I'm sure the printing firm could do a great job. Just an idea, but why don't we start a thread sticking up the best X1/9 pictures we can find, vote on them, take the top 12 and work out a price??

I can't remember how much I paid for the vw camper calendar I bought it at tesco while doing my Xmas shop.... I like the idea of getting a thread of x1/9's up and choosing the top 12...

Rob

How about getting a price from the printers and seeing what they could offer for the price of a magazine run. If its something worthwile then next December send everyone a calender instead of a magazine.

That's a very good idea Steve
The printers should be able to do that, last time I priced up a calender it was £3.50 each with a £150 art work charge, based on 12 pages plus cover and sized as standard wall size one month per page with daily section for notes etc.
this was based on 200 number

The art work set-up would not be a problem.

That's a really good idea Steve. Ok everyone, let's get some of your favourite pics up on this thread then. I suggest we give it untill November to decide on the final 12. That way we may well choose a pic from the national and it will be done in time for Christmas. Does everyone know how to post pictures on here? Right....get posting!!

I like Mark's draft layout cos there is nothing worse than a calender with little boxes and no room to write on dentist appointments and important stuff like that.
I like nice pix too, but big boxes are a MUST :)
