hi if you got some service history try contacting previous owners they may know,i think the numbers were put on randomly so the chassis number may not be of any help via fiat....maybe it was owned by a previous member of this great club? cheers pete

Write to Bertone in Torino. Neil Yardley did that with FAG and they sent him new plaque no's for the wings. I don't know if they had them on record or if Neil already knew the number. FAG is sitting in my barn the noo having been purchased once again by Neil. Next time I'm down talking to the cars I'll try and take a photo of the plaque no.

thanks for the tips guys as the car isn't original colour to match the original plaque no. i may go for petes idea think of a number any number.a pic of one up close would be great Ewen if possible but no rush i wouldn't want you fighting snow blizzards on my account, could we be on to something here if we knew the plaque numbers on club cars so as not to replicate them i or we could get plaque repros made up, it must be of great interest to the general public at the shows on all the really original cars. or would the club frown upon this idea.?

many thanks

The club produced replica plaques in the very early days and I think the ones which were left were given to members at one of the Butlins meetings. I have one of these for my car when I eventually get it finished. If you let me have your email address then I will dig it out, photograph it and send it to you, if it is of any help

In my early days in the club I tried to find any relation between the plaque number and the chassis number or any other relationship by looking at a number of original 1300s at shows, meetings etc. I came to the conclusion that they must have been put on at random. I was also told that neither Fiat or Bertone had any records of plaque numbers but I confess that I did not contact either myself. I believe that I was not the first one to try and fail at this.

If they were random then there might be 2 cars with the same number. The numbers had only 4 digits I think so that could be possible?? If they made sure that all cars had a different number then there must be a record :!:

What do u think?

Not necessarily ... they print off the numbers & randomly distribute them :?:

Only one car per number, but who knows where :?:

Just a thought.
