I followed a Lotus Esprit s1 for a short while this morning. They're quite pretty looking things although it didn't go very fast (maybe he wasn't trying ?!).

Anyway, what I hadn't realised until this morning was that the s1 cars use X1/9 rear lights. It was a nice start to the day and I learnt something new !!

Chris, Im pretty sure the next generation of lotus esprit also use the same clusters - but they swapped sides and were turned through 180 degrees to make them look 'different'.

I'm a bit of a closet Esprit fan...

The designer was Giorgetto Giugiaro, and only the series 1 used X1/9 taillamps, series 2 used Rover SD1 lamps, and the later facelift Esprit used Toyota lamps, All of them used Morris Marina doorhandles though!

A nice series 2 Esprit turbo is one of those cars I would have to part with the X1/9 for I'm afraid....

I think a lot of X/19 information must of been lying around the Lotus factory, The Daughter of the late Colin Chapman (Lotus Founder) had at least one X1/9 (A Lido in the 70'S), and what other car on earth would have given Lotus the Idea of the modern day Elise?.....
Maybe one day we will find out the Hethel factory has a floor full of pristine X1/9's and maybe one in full stainless steel, considering chapmans connections with D'Lorean???

Some where or other, was advised that the late Colin Chapman did not trust his daughter in one of his Lotus,as for the odd chance of a X1/9 hidding in one of the hangers not as of a couple of years ago Matin Laws use to take his wifes X1/9 to work when she let him use it from the factory so who knows what in the car park at Hethel these days.

From what I read, Chapman's daughter wrote off the X1/9 after a week....

i'd be quite happy with ringo star's wife in the passenger seat, especially if she'd divorce him and bring half his money :D

re the picture, wonder why they never did that with an x1/9 ?

bond would probably walk out of a cloud of rusty water holding the steering wheel with nothing else left :D
